A film which involves character, plot, suspense, entertainment and excitement.
The French Connection involves two policemen who are sure that there is a scheme of importing drugs into the country by a 'notable' French business man - read the plot on Amazon OR simply watch the film. Gene Hackman is wonderful in this role and there are not many other films that he is in which are as good as this - 'The Conversation' would be the closest.
The film is clearly not new so please do not watch it thinking of new effects - watch it for the depth of character, always a pleasure watching this one.
