A disturbing tale written by Ruth Rendell in her particular style.
This tale is of ordinary people which you would recognise. They all live in a tall house divided into separate rooms - each person has a secret OR a story to tell.
The bottom floor is a second hand / antique shop selling bits and pieces and is run by a lady who is locked in the past and with a story to tell. Her help is a beauty who has so many stories that I got confused.
Not an easy read - keep your wits about you and remember their names.
